The challenge
Redspher is a leading logistics company seeking to modernize and streamline its IT infrastructure. By leveraging the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) methodology, it aims to transition from on-premise systems to the AWS cloud, optimizing costs and enhancing performance. This move is expected to support its goals of increased flexibility, scalability, and security while adhering to data privacy and compliance laws.
The decision to migrate and modernize was driven by several business objectives:

The project
Redspher required a reliable partner to accelerate its cloud migration and modernization efforts. They sought to leverage ARHS Spikeseed's expertise in AWS migrations to provide a comprehensive discovery and analysis phase. This would involve evaluating the potential costs and benefits of migration and modernization from on-premise to AWS, leading to an informed decision-making process for future steps.
The project was conducted in 2 phases:
Phase 1: Discovery and Analysis
In the initial phase, ARHS Spikeseed conducted a thorough discovery and analysis to provide Redspher with a clear understanding of the potential costs and benefits of migrating to the AWS cloud. This included:
- Detailed assessment of the current on-premise infrastructure.
- Evaluation of potential cloud migration and modernization
- Delivery of a proposal outlining migration services and providing
This phase aimed to equip Redspher leaders with the insights needed to proceed confidently in their cloud migration journey.
Phase 2: Migration and Modernization
Having partnered with ARHS Spikeseed, Redspher initiated the migration of all key applications to AWS. The MAP Mobilize phase involved testing and validating migration and modernization patterns identified during the Assess phase. Key objectives included:
- Establishing a baseline infrastructure using best governance, security, and administration practices.
- Migrating the first workload as a pilot or proof-of-concept
- Preparing detailed migration and modernization plans and an operating guide for future initiatives.
Several technical factors used during the migration:
- Cloud Elasticity: Utilizing AWS's multi-AZ and multi-region capabilities for improved elasticity.
- Enhanced Security: Improved workloads' security posture with cloud-native security tools.
- Disaster Recovery: Meeting stringent RPO and RTO requirements with multi-AZ server deployment.
- Cloud-Native Services: Implementing AWS services for contact center operations, monitoring, management, and security to optimize deployment costs.
- DevOps Practices: Enhancing developer productivity through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools like Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, and AWS Code Pipeline.
